Initially, I considered acupuncture at the suggestion of my sister to help with my seasonal depression (SADD) as an alternative to traditional prescription anti-depressant medications. I did not like the way the meds made me feel and I was concerned about the long-term effects. So, although skeptical of this type of treatment and extremely adverse to needles I made an appointment to see Kathren at the Acupuncture and Wellness Center.

At my first appointment, we reviewed a questionnaire that I completed prior to our meeting. In addition, Kathren was willing to take the time to explain acupuncture and how it works and even helped settle my fear of needles by letting me see and handle one.

After four or five treatments, I began to find some relief from the depression; and after several more sessions I have found my depression is 90% to 95% better. I believe much of this is due to the acupuncture and I've also added natural supplements to aid in the relief of depression along with eating healthy and exercise. At this time, I've almost weaned myself off the prescription medications and I don't even mind getting stuck with the needles. If I can do the needles, anyone can.

Let me say first that I was very skeptical of acupuncture. I didn't really understand what it was all about or what it could do for me. The only thing that I knew was I needed to lose weight.

My first meeting took place the first of March 2010. It is now the first of November and I have lost 80 pounds through acupuncture. Also, through consultation from Kathren Bunt on diet and choice of foods -- fruits and vegetables -- made it all possible for the weight loss.

The other side is I started walking for exercise but I have had arthritic knees and Kathren did acupuncture on my knees and slowly the pain went away and I was able to walk three miles a day at the mall.

I feel that acupuncture and consultation with Kathren Bunt has helped this 72 year old man very well. I have not felt this good for a long time and I would recommend this treatment to anyone.
